French Onion Burgers

Ingredients:

1 yellow onion

4 provolone cheese slices

1 tbsp of better than bouillon chicken base

4 Pretzel rolls (Or any kind of bun you'd like)

1 pound of ground beef

Olive oil

Salt & pepper

Instructions:

Thinly slice onion. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add sliced onions to skillet and cook, stirring, until very soft and lightly brown. Season with a pinch each of sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir in broth concentrate, and ½ cup water. Cook, stirring occasionally, until liquid is reduced by half and onions are dark brown and jammy. Transfer to a bowl or plate off heat.

Shape beef into 4 burgers, around half inch thick. Season all over with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in same skillet over medium-high. Add buns, cut-sides down, and cook until lightly toasted, put off to side until ready to serve.

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in same skillet over medium–high. Add burgers cook until deeply browned on one side. Flip, then top with caramelized onions and cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted and burgers are medium (or longer for desired doneness). Transfer burgers to buns. Enjoy!
